Telephone (macOS)

Telephone is a free SIP softphone for macOS, available from the Mac App Store. It can be used with Daktela to make and receive calls.

Warning

Auto-answer is not available in Telephone. When Daktela initiates an outgoing call, you must manually accept it in Telephone first. For this reason, Telephone is not recommended for contact centre use — consider Daktela SW Phone instead.

Download Telephone from the Mac App Store.


Set Up Your SIP Account

After installing, open Telephone. If this is your first time launching it, the account setup dialog opens automatically — skip to step 3. Otherwise:

  1. Open Telephone → Preferences…

  1. Select the Accounts tab and click + to add a new account.

  1. Fill in the account details:

  2. Full Name — any name you choose

  3. Domain — the hostname of your Daktela instance (the same address you use to log in to Daktela, e.g. yourcompany.daktela.com)
  4. User Name — your SIP device number (find it in SIP Devices)
  5. Password — your SIP device password (find it in SIP Devices)

Click Done.

How Calls Work

Incoming call

  1. A customer calls.
  2. A notification appears in Daktela.
  3. Accept the call in Telephone.
  4. The activity opens in Daktela.

Incoming call flow

Outgoing call

  1. Initiate the call in Daktela.
  2. Telephone rings — accept it.
  3. Daktela dials the customer's number.
